The forgotten tree from Moraine Lake in Banff National Park, Canadian Rockies: I often try and imagine snippets of nature as if they were people. When I saw this tree I felt sorry for it. It grew from a tiny seed into a seedling, and then into a sapling, then finally into a beautiful tree where it lived with its mother, father, brothers and sisters for probably 100 years. And then along came a wind storm and blew it down, and it was pushed into this rocky mountain lake, where it was driven up against the rocks only to be forgotten forever. Except that I found it. And now it has become a beautiful part of the mosaic of this incredible destination.
