Description
The location is the Valensole Plateau of France. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to capture an incredible photo of the lavender fields of France when they are at their peak of bloom. And for this photo I was anticipating capturing a beautiful sunset. But when I was driving towards the lavender fields, I became stuck in an intense and powerful rainstorm. And I thought that the photoshoot was going to be ruined. But I kept going, and the rain stopped as I arrived at this location. And the sky was very dark, stormy, and angry. I was disappointed, because I didn't have the sunset I was looking for. And then lightning started to strike the ground in the distance. And I changed the focus of my photoshoot to try and capture the lightning. I started taking repetitive 5 second long exposures over and over again. I took hundreds of them. And finally the lightning struck on both sides of this lone tree. It was the most incredible opportunity and probably the only time in my life that I will be able to capture a photo like this. This is not a photoshopped lightning strike. This is the real scene that unfolded before my eyes when I snapped the shutter for this photo. It was an incredibly special moment for me. And I am proud to share it with you.
